A spirited performance by West African Senior High School (WASS) in the final two rounds of the semi-final contest in the National Science and Maths Quiz saw them knock out defending champions, Prempeh College and reach the grand finale. Prempeh College led the contest after the first round by three points with WASS trailing on 23 points, while Krobo girls were 12 points further back. An impressive Speed Round saw WASS edge ahead by 2 points, finishing the second round on 29 points, while Prempeh gained only one point from the previous round to finish with 27 points. Read More

So far, the ball still set rolling with most of the secondary schools in Ashanti Region being eliminated from the National Science and Maths quiz. Prempeh College was  able to secure a quarter-final slot by winning massively against St. Francis Xavier Seminary School and Saviour SHS. Prempeh College won with 62 points while St Francis Xavier Seminary School and Saviour SHS had 29 and 17 points respectively. And to the next quarter stage, Prempeh meets Accra Academy and Islamic SHS in the last contest of the quarter-final stage of the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition at the University of Ghana. Heads of Basic Schools in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti region have mourned over the poor quality of meals served under the School Feeding Programme to pupils, and appealed to the authorities to intervene. Though a good number of schools in the district are benefitting from the programme, school heads say pupils refuse to eat the meals served because they are low on quality as compared to what they eat in their homes, and small in quantity to satisfy them. Former students of Kumasi High School (KUHIS) who completed in 1997 have presented 50 pieces of dining hall tables to their alma mater. The presentation follows a request made by the school’s headmaster when some old boys visited the campus to observe how the school was faring. Great tribulation lies out at St. Martin at Akokoamong in the Asokore-Mampong Municipal in the Ashanti Region with students barely studying under trees with no classroom block to shed them from rains. These stormy days in Ashanti Region has caused more harm to people’s lives and properties. On thursday 10th of May, a massive storm had caused many houses to  immerse after nearly six hours of heavy rainstorm, coupled with lightning and thunder. Again, on Sunday, 13th of May, the rain poured for over 6 hours which had began the night before Sunday. Many areas in Kumasi like Santasi, Pankrono Estate, South Suntreso junction, near the Bekwai roundabout, Ashtown, C.P.C, Moshie Zongo junction and Airport roundabout were much affected. This has come to the need to make our drivers in Kumasi more cautious when driving. Read More
